During a romantic picnic on a Wisconsin lake, Bess Cary tells her fiancé, Ole Evinrude, that she’d love a dish of ice cream. While rowing back to shore Ole decides the trip would be a lot easier if his rowboat had a motor, and he soon invented the first outboard motor in 1909.
Today, the global headquarters for the Evinrude brand is BRP’s Marine Propulsion Systems Division facility just outside of Racine, WI.
While we share technology and inspiration with all of the innovative brands in the BRP portfolio, the Evinrude engineering team resides at the Sturtevant facility.
100% of all Evinrude E-TEC engines are assembled at our state-of-the-art manufacturing site which employs 300 workers on the plant floor.
All Evinrude outboard engines shipped to North American dealers are sent from our distribution facility near Rockford, IL.
Evinrude sources engine components from across the Unites States. Major components are sourced from Merrillville IN, Tiffin OH, Racine WI, Rock Valley IA, Bettendorf IA, and Andrews NC.
